As part of the European Researchers’ Night 2026 post-events, the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR) is organizing the experiential educational activity “Beneath the Surface – An Invisible World Comes to Life” on Saturday, 17 October 2026, at 11:30, at the Athens Municipality Art Gallery.

Children aged 9–15 will have the opportunity to explore the unseen world of plankton through interactive activities and the use of scientific equipment, discovering the vital importance of these microscopic organisms for life across seas and oceans.

The activity takes place in the context of the “No Blue No Future” exhibition, which brings contemporary art and science into creative dialogue, highlighting the threats facing marine ecosystems and the importance of protecting them.
